Located in a lively area of Shoreditch, on Rivington street (EC2A 3BA), Rivington Place is London's first new visual arts venue backed by public funding since Hayward Gallery opened in 1968.
It is dedicated to the practitioners of contemporary art from culturally diverse backgrounds. The 1445 sq m space contains two galleries, a lecture theatre, a cafe, the Stuart Hall Library, workspaces leased to independent creative businesses, and provides permanent home for Iniva and Autograph ABP.
The £8 million building (mostly financed by Arts Council England Lottery Capital) has been designed by David Adjaye, Britain’s only prominent black architect.
